Our Quitters series lets you tell us about your journey, from the highs, to the lows, and everything in between.

This week, we were lucky enough to hear Peter's story, which is one which many smokers can relate to!

Peter:

'I once was a young and dumb lad, who had quite bad asthma as a child. One fateful day I decided to pick up a cigarette and try it, especially because my mother and father were both smokers so I’d been around it all my life.

That wasn’t the main reason I started though, let’s be honest as a youngster we all believed it was “cool” to smoke. So by age 11, I was a smoker.

I started on straight cigs, Sovereign Blacks to be precise, and that was that. Fast forward a few years and by age 16 I was on rolling tobacco and doing about 12.5g’s a day, every day, all the way up until my father passed away in late 2014.

I promised the silly old git that I’d get off the stink sticks, something which he could never do having been a smoker for the majority of his life.

He was never willing to try an ecig either, but I had heard good things, so I went and did some research on them.

My first ever kit was a Jenson Evo kit from the news agents using an 18mg tobacco flavour.

It was PANTS!

I was still smoking alongside using the Evo kit, it was no good at all. So I went off and went back to my research and found out about sub ohm vaping.

My first ever sub ohm kit was an Aspire Atlantis V1 tank with the Aspire CF sub ohm battery, and straight away, this allowed me to drop my nicotine strength down to a 6mg. At first, I'll admit, I was still having the odd roll up here and there.

With a bit of will power and feeling the health benefits I packed up the fags altogether. Now I’m almost 3 years into vaping, using a 3mg always, never anything higher!

The best part about vaping is by far the huge variety of flavours we lucky sods get to choose from, everything from sweet succulent strawberries blends ,to all the amazing baked goods flavours. We really are spoilt for choice!

Do I ever see myself quitting vaping? At some point in the future I do believe I will stop vaping all together, but for now….it really helps to ensure I never touch cigarettes, and as always, it also helps the stress.
